Castiglioni Codex

U.S. launch of Italy's most exclusive handmade book atelier

Castiglioni Codex — handmade book
Castiglioni Codex — Augelli edition
Castiglioni Codex — Luigi edition

The Challenge

Castiglioni Codex, an Italian atelier dedicated to creating supreme handmade books, sought to formally launch in the United States. Each Codex is a singular work of art — a bespoke volume commissioned for an individual, a family, or an institution whose story deserves to endure for centuries. The challenge was introducing an entirely new category of luxury object to American collectors, institutions, and cultural visionaries.

Our Approach

We positioned the Castiglioni Codex not as a book, but as a vessel of meaning — a handmade object of enduring weight designed to carry its contents across generations. Strategic press outreach emphasized the cultural ecosystem behind each Codex: the Fabriano Paper Mill (founded 1264), the Opificio della Rosa within Montefiore Castle, Tipoteca Italiana, and the Legatoria Anonima Amanvensis atelier in Rimini. We targeted collectors, fine art connoisseurs, and institutions with a narrative rooted in centuries of Italian craft.

The Story We Told

In an era shaped by artificial intelligence and existential reflection, we told the story of permanence — of objects designed to carry original artworks, precious materials, intimate inserts, and even the DNA of their owners across generations. The forthcoming limited edition of Edgar Allan Poe's The Raven, created with New York artist Casey Baugh, anchored the launch with a tangible artistic collaboration that captured media imagination.
